Assessing & Understanding Your Metabolism

When you are trying to lose weight, the "long and winding road" approach is to guess whether you have a "slow" or "fast" metabolism and to guess how many calories your body needs and how many calories you actually burn.

Since everyone is different, guessing at metabolism rates or calculating metabolism using charts does not provide a firm basis upon which to build a solid weight loss nutrition program that will support your weight goals.

The Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program begins with a weight loss assessment (weight, measurements, BMI, body composition) and a Resting Metabolism Evaluation.  By taking this simple breathing test you can find out your Resting Metabolic Rate.  The results of your Resting Metabolic Rate test tell us if you have an increased or decreased metabolism, and if your body primarily uses fats or carbohydrates for energy. This information is used to determine the amount of calories you need to eat each day to maintain or lose weight.  It provides the basis for development of your unique eating plan.

Weight Loss Nutrition... More than a Diet - It's an Individualized Eating Plan

The Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program provides you with an individualized eating plan based upon real food, not meal-replacement shakes, bars, diet pills, or pre-packaged foods. 

The First Phase of your Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program is to JUMPSTART your metabolism by removing foods from your daily diet that cause inflammation, digestion, bloating, and a sluggish metabolism.  Then in less than two short weeks, you'll begin to follow your Individualized Eating Plan based upon your unique metabolism.  You'll learn how to lose weight using food from your local grocery store, how to combine foods to enhance your metabolism, and how to have and recover from those 'fling meals' and parties that are part of everyone's lifestyle.  Our clients are amazed that they steadily lose weight without being hungry or feeling deprived. 

Personal Weight Loss Coaching 

Giving you an eating plan and telling you to go out and do it on your own can set you up for failure.  That's why our Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program includes support with one-on-one diet coaching sessions.   We believe these one-on-one coaching sessions are key to your success.  You can choose how often you'd like to receive your one-on-one coaching sessions - we offer them weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.  And you can modify your coaching plan at any time to accommodate your needs and changes in your lifestyle.   Accountability is KEY to your success and we're here for you every step of the way.  

Resistance-Based Exercise… The 'BEST' Exercise

Our Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program offers you an optional strength or resistance-based exercise program.  This supervised exercise program is designed to help restore and re-build your fat-burning metabolism through a very specific full-body strength and toning program call Metabolic Resistance Training (M.R.T.).  It is especially effective for women of all ages wanting to improve their body's natural built-in calorie burner, as well as re-build a better body shape.  Not only will you be slimmer, you'll become firmer too.


Strength exercise is critical to helping minimize any loss of lean muscle tissue during weight loss.  The loss of muscle, which burns more calories than fat, slows your body's resting metabolic rate, and causes you to pack on fat pounds.  When you perform Metabolic Resistance Training (M.R.T.) to regain and then maintain your lean muscle, you halt the drop in your metabolism that can make you prone to weight re-gain.

This strength exercise component of our program also provides you with many hidden health benefits.  So you continue to lose inches while you're increasing your energy and stamina.

The Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program does recommend that you incorporate regular strength exercise into your weight loss program, however you are not required to perform any exercise at Genesis.  For your convenience, we do however offer our extremely effective supervised Metabolic Resistance Training (M.R.T.) Program using our Nautilus equipment.  This helps minimize loss of lean muscle tissue during weight loss, assists with boosting your metabolism and helps you tone and firm your body.
The Genesis Weight Loss & Lifestyle Program will help you achieve your weight loss goals.  Our clients lose 2-3 pounds a week when they follow the plan.
