Metabolic Resistance Training (M.R.T.) Is The Foundation Of Our Lifestyle Fitness Program

The most important phase of your Lifestyle Fitness Program is our specialized form of strength training called Metabolic Resistance Training (M.R.T.). With M.R.T., our focus is on re-building and maintaining muscle, because, as we age, we lose that precious lean muscle mass.  In the absence of regular strength exercising, muscle fibers simply become weaker and smaller at a slow but consistent rate through a process called disuse atrophy, the same process that occurs to a broken arm that has been put into a cast. Not a pretty sight.


And because our muscles directly affect our metabolic rate, disuse atrophy has important weight gain and weight loss implications.  Only by regular strength exercising can one achieve and maintain a lean body, setting the stage for easier and more effective weight management.

The next phase of your Genesis Lifestyle Fitness Program is your cardio/aerobic training.  At Genesis Personal Fitness, we view cardio/aerobic activity as an extension of the cardiovascular endurance developed during the strength exercise portion of our program.  

As part of your cardiovascular exercise program, you'll be introduced to a special form of interval training.  Interval-training cardio helps to accelerate fat and calorie burning, lower blood pressure and heart rate, increases your good cholesterol, getting you and your heart in shape... all without wearing down your joints and your metabolism. 

Cardio exercise, when performed properly, is an important factor in "burning" excess stored calories on our bodies -- your body fat.
