Weight Loss Boot Camp FAQ's

If you are thinking about participating in one of our 6-Week Weight Loss Boot Camps, here are answers to some frequently asked questions about what's involved and the results you can expect to achieve.

At Genesis Personal Fitness of Newtown, we have found that clients who are looking for faster, more effective weight loss are able to achieve their goals in short, concentrated 6-week "boot camps".  The following are a series of questions often asked by perspective Boot Camp candidates along with their appropriate answers.

Question:  What is the difference between the two Weight Loss Boot Camps you offer?

Answer: Genesis Personal Fitness offers two levels of their proven Weight Loss Boot Camp - The Jumpstart Boot Camp for beginners and The Accelerated Boot Camp Intensive for the more advanced client.  Here's a short description of each -

* The Genesis Jumpstart Weight Loss Boot Camp (beginners)

This is the perfect program for both men and women who want to start getting their metabolisms moving in the right direction to achieve timely, predictable weight loss while exercising here at Genesis.  Over a six-week period, you'll learn what, when, and how to eat to lose fat, maintain your muscle tone, raise your energy levels, and enhance your body's overall performance.  You'll learn the proven skills you need to choose the right foods for losing weight, design your own meals, eat to improve your metabolism's fat-burning potential, and much more!  Participants in past Genesis "Jumpstart" Weight Loss Boot Camps have lost up to 20 lbs. in just 6 weeks! 
 
* The Genesis Accelerated Weight Loss Intensive Boot Camp (advanced)

This Bootcamp is a powerful, 3-Stage fat-loss intensive program reserved for those who want to accelerate their body's ability to drop those extra pounds quickly, but who also have the determination and willingness to "do whatever it takes" to achieve their goals. Many of our clients who participate in this Bootcamp are astonished at the amount of weight (fat) they can lose in a short amount of time, yet still in a healthy and safe manner.  Genesis clients who have already completed our Jumpstart Weight Loss Boot Camp or who have previously completed one of our One-on-One Nutrition Coaching Programs are best suited for success in this Boot Camp program.  Participants in past Genesis Accelerated Weight Loss Intensive Boot Camps have lost up to 35+ lbs. in just 6 weeks.  
Question: I have over 50 lbs. to lose to get to the weight I want.  Will doing one of your 6-Week Weight Loss Boot Camps help me accomplish this?
 
Answer: Depending upon your current health and starting fitness level, as well as your past dieting history, the weight loss you experience during either of the Weight Loss Boot Camps can vary widely.  This is why it can take your participation in several "tours" in one or both of the Boot Camps offered to enable your metabolism to function more optimally and insure that you to lose the maximum weight possible each week.  Of course, the first step is to begin!
 
Question: Will all of my weight loss be from fat?
 
Answer: In the initial stages of either Boot Camp, the weight loss you experience will be from both excess body fat and excess water weight.  The excess water your body is carrying is generally due to your current diet and certain food selections, a lack of proper exercise, medications you may be taking, and hormonal variations you may be experiencing.  After this excess water weight leaves the body, the key is to lose "fat weight" and not muscle weight.  This is why proper strength training is an important component of our Weight Loss Boot Camp Program.


  
To insure that most of the weight loss you experience during the Boot Camp is from excess body fat, we perform both Pre and Post Boot Camp Assessments that not only include measuring your overall body weight, but also your body composition (with both skinfold calipers and bio-electrical impedence methods to measure your % body fat accurately) and circumference measurements around areas you are likely to lose your body fat.
 
Question: How do you insure that I'll stick to the Weight Loss Boot Camp "Plan"?
 
Answer: One of the most important "success factors" of our Weight Loss Boot Camps is the Daily Coaching Review.  Each day, your Boot Camp Coach electronically reviews what you've eaten and how you've exercised the prior day, and then helps you "course correct" right away for the best possible results.  He also answers questions about your eating plan, exercise regimen, or weight loss progress as needed. 
 
Having "the plan" and knowing what to do is only half the battle when you're trying to lose weight.  Need evidence of that?  How many weight loss and exercise books have bought, read, tried to follow on your own, and actually succeeded at reaching your weight loss goals? For many, the number is usually "0".
 
The reason is that while you may have good intentions and the whole weight loss "thing" looks simple enough, the fact is that losing weight is hard without some form of accountability as part of your diet plan.  We have found after coaching thousands of people in this format that 50% of the Weight Loss Boot Camp is all about the "plan", but the other 50% (and likely the more important 50%) is the daily accountability and coaching you receive while doing the Boot Camp.
 
Question: I'm not sure I can justify the cost of the Weight Loss Boot Camp Program.  Why should I spend the money? 
 

  
Answer:
  Let's think about this for a moment.  It cost you A LOT of money to gain the excess weight you have.  You had to buy the food that you've over-eaten, whether it was out at restaurants or at home as junk-food goodies.  And this doesn't take into account the "good food" you had second and third helpings of, or the times you may have "eaten for comfort" because your life became stressful.  In the end, you bought ALL the extra calories you are wearing... and now don't want to wear them any more.
 
If you want to change how you look and how much you weigh, you have some options - it all comes down to choices:
  • Choice #1:  You can go it alone.  It's true, you can go out and get the latest diet fad book, read it, prepare to launch your new diet plan, and follow it on your own until you reach your weight loss goal.  it is not easy, but it is possible to do.

  • Choice #2:  You can try to "burn off" your extra fat weight with exercise alone.  Yes, it is possible to rid your body of excess weight soley through doing exercise.  Just know that if you do the math, you'll find that trying to lose weight strictly by increasing your physcial activity in the form of exercise can be a "long runway" approach.  Often, trying to exercise your fat off leads to "exercise burnout" and eventually can cause over use injuries that are tough to recover from.

  • Choice #3:  You can diet and exercise together.  But what combination of each will you use so you don't your waste time and effort?  Low fat diet?  How about low-carb instead?  Aerobic exercise alone?  How about strength training to tone your muscles and burn more calories at rest?  How many days, every day or every other day?  It can get confusing.  On top of this all, losing weight is not always a straight shot.  What happens if and when you hit a plateau?  Will you know how to overcome the hurdle so your body continues to lose excess body fat?

  • Choice #4:  You can let us help you lose the weight you want to lose.  It's like most things you come to learn in life - as time goes on, there are a lot of "wrong ways" of doing things that you can end up wasting precious time and money on.  At Genesis Personal Fitness, we have decades of experience in working with thousands of clients who have lost weight "the right way" in the shortest time possible.  It is why people come to us when they want "results they can count on."
