Strength Training & Stretching: A Double Eagle For Stellar Golf Scores
Research over the last 10 years clearly demonstrates that specific strengthening exercises, combined with precision stretching, produces a more powerful and controllable golf swing. Genesis Personal Fitness clients not only report increases in their club head speed, but also improvements in their driving distance. Our Genesis Golf-Fit Program includes:
- Strength training - critical in creating maximum torque for improved club head speed and driving distance, as well as to protect the lower back from overuse injuries. Strength training the muscles not only helps provide stability in golf swings, but it also prevents injuries to the shoulders and the knees. Muscle strength is the key to producing greater movement force to propel the ball.
- Flexibility training - an "essential" for the golfer. Plain and simple, if a golfer has muscle imbalances and lacks flexibility surrounding one or more joint complexes, there will be a compensation for this imbalance in other areas and joints of the body. Over time and years of golfing, this can create a disaster (for example: a rotator cuff tear).
- Cardiovascular training - important to help maintain concentration and energy levels. Golf is an athletic event that can take several hours to complete. With poor cardiovascular conditioning, the golfer will lose concentration and focus, and guess what... you simply get tired and subsequently finish the game poorly.
